Theme Overview: The evening focuses on recommender systems, ubiquitous across various sectors such as social media, entertainment, e-commerce, news, and media. These Python-based systems aim to personalise user experiences. The discussion will cover learning objectives, potential biases, ethical considerations, and the evolving impact of these systems.

  • Miren Bitcham: BScEng in Mechanical Engineering from Wits, Specialist Data Scientist.
  • Andani Madodonga: M.IT in Big Data Science from UP, Specialist Data Scientist.
  • Amy Ah Goo: MSc Computer Science from Wits, Data Engineer.
