What we’re about

PyData Long Island is a community of people local to Long Island, NY who are curious about and want to explore data using open source tools, mostly Python but open to others such as R and Julia. We can look at datasets that are of interest to us and build the skills we need to make sense of our world.

For newcomers especially, this is an encouraging and positive group that helps them build the skills they need to do the things they want to do. I view data skills as just as much art as science, and that there's something for everyone to contribute and learn.

Who should join?

We are looking for people who either use Python or want to use Python to look at data from their work or from their community (but please have your work's permission if you want to show us something). The group is open to anyone, though you must agree to follow the PyData Code of Conduct (https://pydata.org/code-of-conduct).
