1 Virtual PyData Piraeus meetup: When Data Science and Music meet
Details
Hello everyone,
Time to bring PyData Piraeus meetup out of lock down. To comply with social distancing and to keep everyone safe, we are organizing a series of virtual meetups.
Our first virtual meetup is scheduled for 16th June at 7pm. It has been planned to use the Google Meet platform.
We are pleased to welcome Theodore Palamas, Data Scientist at Orfium, who will be talking about the application of Data Science in the Music Industry!
Program:
19.00-20.00: When Data Science and Music meet: A content-based audio matching use-case, Theodore Palamas, Data Scientist at Orfium
Abstract:
Data science helps big music companies to analyse trends, suggest music to listen, and predict what the next big hit might be. Big data in the music industry are rich in format − text, signal, images, etc which in many cases makes data scientist's life difficult to clean, process and analyse them. Orfium's data team developed a proprietary platform to tackle this challenge, optimizing the process of cleaning, processing and extracting insights.
This talk will be covering an introduction to Orfium's business model and data team as well as a real use case; the exploration, the modelling, and the implementation steps followed in order to apply a content-based audio matching technique to solve a specific problem.
Bio:
Theodore is a member of the Data Team at Orfium. His projects focus mainly on content-based audio matching and among them is an audio fingerprinting algorithm for effective song recognition on a large scale, as well as an NN model for cover song detection.
Thank you to the team from Orfium and also to our sponsors: wappier and New York College!
