TITLE: DataOps - The what, the pain, the how

SPEAKER: Xavier Bruhiere, Vice President Data Engineering, Lazada

SYNOPSIS:
To quote a famous article: the big data world missed the DevOps movement. Why? What can we do about it? We will explore why tooling and automating data warehouses is so hard a decade in Big Data and why it matters. Building on those observations, we will explore culture tips, existing tech and battle-tested approaches to move toward more automated ETL and analytics pipelines.

BIO:
Xavier leads data engineering at Lazada eLogistics. His team build tools and products on top of a lot of bytes, for everyone taking data-driven decisions. He previously ran a quantitative investment firm and bootstrapped an engineering office in Singapore. He also co-wrote Kong - Become a king of API Gateways.

1. Doan Siscus - Head of Data Analytics, Traveloka

Bio:
Doan is currently leading the Data Analytics Group for Traveloka, the leading Southeast Asia online travel company that provides a wide range of travel needs in one platform. His main passion is to drive business results through the power of data science as it shown on his track records in 10+ years in the field of technology platforms, such as Revenue assurance, pricing, attrition management, multi-product adoption, and Growth hack. Together with his team, he also pioneered the first analytics institution within Indonesia telco industry.

2. Maneesh Mishra - VP Data Science, Gojek (SEA decacorn)

Bio:
Maneesh comes from a Computational Physics background with over 10 years of research experience in mathematical modelling, numerical simulations and machine learning. In addition to his academic experience, he has worked with several startups notably Redmart, a leading online grocery store and Uber which is truly disrupting the transportation business. He's currently VP, Data Science at Gojek (SEA decacorn) and is helping to power a Superapp with ML on various fronts. He has built data products for these companies leveraging machine learning and intelligent algorithms. He is known to be innovative at problem solving and has executed deep, complex solutions to business problems for generating massive impact. In his free time, he advises early stage startups and has been participating in Kaggle competitions on Data Science and Machine Learning challenges.

3. Scott Wong - Medical doctor, Singapore-Stanford Biodesign Fellow (2018), Co-founder Podinno & Novyas, Former Digital Health Regulator (MOH)

Bio:
Dr. Scott Wong is a medical doctor with special interests in digital medicine and AI. Dr. Wong is a former Singapore-Stanford Biodesign fellow and regulator for telemedicine in the Ministry of Health, Singapore. He is also the co-founder of Novyas, a mobile smart pad based electronic medical record system, and Podinno, a platform that uses big data to prevent amputations in patients with diabetic foot disease.
