Special Edition: Beginner Programming Workshop in Python

Details

Have you ever felt like the world of technology is something you will never understand and that “The Matrix” spins your head? Yeah, we've all experienced that. That's why we've decided to give you a chance to learn about Python - a beginner friendly object-oriented programming language!!!

You should attend if:

  1. You are an absolute beginner in coding and are interested in Python. If you already have some programming experience this is NOT for you – please have a look at other PyLadies events.

  2. You can bring a laptop and are curious!

  3. You can come on Friday AND Saturday

What is it about?

It is a free workshop where you will get Python running on your own computer and write code by yourself. We will do it step-by-step so that everyone can follow. The goal is to give you an idea how programming works. We want to remove the fear of doing the first steps in programming and inspire you to develop some code literacy or even learn how to code your own ideas.

Our target audience are preferably female/trans/non-gender/queer people and whoever can bring more diversity into male-dominated IT field.

**The presentation will be held in English, but we can also answer questions in German.

About Organizers

We are Marie Dedikova and Ines Dorian Guett – and we are not “programmers by nature”! We started 1-2 years ago to learn how to code in our free time while working in other field. Meetups were very helpful for that – especially the PyLadies workshops. One day Ines saw a comment of another woman at a Meetup page who looked for a teammate to apply for the RailsGirls Summer of Code. This woman was Marie. One came to another and we had a great summer full of coding at SoundCloud. Now we would love to give something back and teach you some of the things we have learnt.

The Workshop is hosted at Soundcloud.

SoundCloud is a music and podcast streaming platform that lets you listen to millions of songs from around the world, or upload your own. The SoundCloud HQ office is located in Berlin. SoundCloud supports a diversity by giving an opportunity to programming newbies to attend their DeveloperBridge and thus get more women into tech. We are also very thankful that SoundCloud is our coaching company for Rails Girls Summer of Code this year!
