🔊 Introduction to Web Apps with Streamlit

This hands-on workshop will teach you how to quickly build A SUPER COOL web app using python. It’s easy and honestly opens so many doors to showcasing your private projects to the outside. PLUS it's fun! ✨

Don’t worry if you are a beginner, this workshop is great for all levels, specifically anyone who hasn’t used streamlit yet. We will also have mentors to support you anytime you have questions.

🚨 Before the Workshop:

Requirements:

  • Install coding editor (for example vscode)
  • Install python 3.8
  • Have a github account (sign up here if you don’t have one)

Nice to have:

  • Make sure you have a virtual environment manager (for example venv or devcontainer plugin) set up. If you don’t and you are not familiar please come 15 minutes earlier so we can set up an environment for you.

Recommendations:
For this workshop, we will be using a digit classifying machine learning model. If you are new to this topic, we recommend you watch this video.

👩‍💻 Thaïs is a Data Science Engineer at UP42, but much prefers to call herself a geospatial Imagineer 🔮. She earned her Masters's in Geosciences at the University of Potsdam and over the past 5 years working with various types of geospatial applications from climate studies to smart city planning 🛰️. She started her python coding journey two years ago and strives to learn and share knowledge in the field as much as she can.

🏢 Our host UP42 is a platform that lets you buy and analyze different types of satellite imagery. This enables a huge variety of use cases, from vegetation management to monitoring climate change impact. The platform can be accessed through your browser or via API, so it’s suitable for both technical and non-technical users.
