💪 Öykü Gümüş - Empowering Tomorrow: The Necessity and Success of Germany's Girls' Day
In today's world, the underrepresentation of women in tech is a pressing concern. Despite the remarkable progress in various fields, the tech industry still sees a notable gender disparity. This presentation sheds light on the stark gender disparity in the tech industry and highlights the significance of initiatives like Germany's Girls' Day. We explore how such efforts not only emphasize the importance of bridging this gap but have also showcased commendable success. Through an in-depth analysis, attendees will gain insights into the critical need for Girls' Day and its impact on shaping a more inclusive future.

🔊 Sharon Grundmann - Developing a Large-scale Creative Commons Dataset for Image
In January 2023, Getty Images sued Stability AI for training Stable Diffusion on over 12 million of their copyrighted images. This is a recurrent problem with foundation models which are trained on vast image datasets from the Internet, which often include copyrighted content.
In this talk, we will present our solution to this problem – building a large-scale dataset of Creative Commons licensed images. We will dive into the challenges and how we leverage Fondant, an open-source framework that democratises data preparation for foundation models, to realise this.
