Hi there!

We are organizing a Hacktoberfest local event next October 21st, as a joint event of pyBCN and BarcelonaJS. It will be a full day where we'll meet and contribute to open source projects. It will take place at Kernel Analytics offices, starting at 10 am.

Snacks and lunch will be graciously provided by our sponsor during the event. You only need to bring your laptop!

Please register here. Spots are limited!

What is Hacktoberfest?

Hacktoberfest is an initiative by Github and DigitalOcean and it's all about contributing to open source projects. After submitting 5 contributions you'll get a limited edition Hacktoberfest 2018 T-Shirt. You can pick any project of your interest but all of the contributions must be accepted within October.

Who can join?

Anyone interested in Software Development. It doesn’t matter if these are your first steps towards Open Source or if you are experienced Software Architect maintaining several projects. For beginners, we’re going to show how to proceed with Git and GitHub and provide mentorship during the whole event. For experienced people, we can offer a comfortable place with snacks to commit and contribute.

Which projects can I contribute to?

You can contribute to any Open Source project you want. The official Hacktoberfest Getting Started section has a list of resources to find projects available to work on. Additionally, during the event we will introduce some well-known projects we can work on together.

What’s in it for me?

By contributing to Open Source, you’re helping everyone in the community. Additionally, as a person, you will learn new skills, meet new people and become more valuable on the market. We have a chance to give what we took from Wikipedia!

Which languages will be spoken during the event?

All of the event staff speak English, Catalan and Spanish. Talks will be given in any of the three languages, based on the speaker's preference.

We hope to see you there!
