β™ŸοΈ Python for (Board) Game Design
Ignazio Panades, Data Scientist @Avanade and Game Designer

Even if you don't usually think about coding when it comes to board games, Python can be a fundamental tool for developing and testing board games. We will explore the creative process of a boardgame and which phases can be automated. We will look at design space exploration tools, game engines, Monte Carlo simulations and "game designer heuristics".

Ignazio learned about coding only when he was finishing his economics studies, but he quickly got hooked up and he immediately started looking for a job in the IT sector.

At that same time he was in the process of pulling away from the chess world - after playing in tournaments for more than 10 years - and discovering modern board games. He soon found his currently main passion: game design. It was only natural these two passions would fuse together sooner or later.

🎨 Python for Designers
Roberto Arista, Font Engineer @ Typotheque

Why do certain designers choose Python over JavaScript? How has Python become the preferred scripting language for type designers and font professionals? We delve into the contemporary tools ecosystem utilized in font production today.

We will explore the evolution of the Python for Designers project and gain some insights from four years of hybrid teaching experiences. Lastly, a brief overview of the daily operations of a contemporary type foundry and the typical tasks undertaken by font engineers.

Roberto Arista is a typographic designer and a font engineer. He builds tools and fonts at Typotheque, and he takes good care of RoboFont editor documentation. He graduated from ISIA Urbino and KABK type]media master program. In 2017 he published pythonfordesigners.com, an open-source award winning manual to teach designers how to program in Python.

πŸ™ In case you will not able to join us, please decline your ticket at least 1 day before the event please. Thanks for your collaboration.
