Python User Group meetup #13
Details
We’re very happy to announce the 13th Python User Group meetup! 🚀 🐍
This time the event will take place in Ghent 🎉! Big thanks to TechWolf for kindly hosting the event in their amazing office 👏👏 !
Doors will open at 6pm for food&drinks and networking 🤝 the first talk will be at 7pm.
We are excited to already announce our speakers ❤️:
⭐️ Python free-threading
Python’s Global Interpreter Lock (GIL) has long been a central point of discussion in the community—simplifying memory management, but limiting true parallelism in multi-threaded programs. With the introduction of free-threading (the ability to run multiple threads in parallel without the GIL), Python is entering a new era of concurrency and performance.
This talk will explain what free-threading is, why it matters, and how it changes Python’s execution model 🔥
🎤 Ruben Hias
⭐️ Reliable Machine Learning with MLflow
Building ML models is only half the journey ... ensuring they are reliable, reproducible, and trustworthy in production is the real challenge. Traditional evaluation methods often stop at accuracy metrics, but production ML and GenAI application demand a deeper understanding of performance and alignment with business goals.
In this talk, we’ll explore how MLflow helps streamline and standardize model evaluation.
🎤 Vitale Sparacello
⭐️ Image similarity in the world of e-commerce
How do you build and scale an image similarity service that is both performant and production-ready? In this talk, we’ll walk through the technical solution for designing and deploying an image similarity system built in Python and delivered as a containerized service on AWS.
🎤 Youssef Elshafay
