Details
QL PHYSICALLY meets on the second Saturday of each month in Whitestone at 11:30 am. Join us for Libertarian News, Views, Discussion and Advocacy from Queens County! http://www.queenslibertarians.org/join-renew/
Queens Libertarians will host recent candidates Nic Leobold and Sam Sloan, at the Takara Sushi restaurant located at 150-11 14th Avenue, Whitestone, New York on Saturday, August at 11:30 am. They will speak on the topic of "Police and Criminal Justice Reform After Floyd" and the best civil libertarian approach to law enforcement and police brutality issues in the wake of the early summer protests. What new reforms are needed, and what is the most constructive path to obtaining change?
There will also be an update on the ballot status lawsuit of LPNY in light of the recent change in the NY State election laws. Nicolas ‘Nic’ Leobold is a Businessman/Artist/Athlete/Consultant/Coach and longtime libertarian Voluntaryist Anarcap Activist. Sam Sloan is past and current Treasurer of LPQC/QL, Treasurer of the Bronx LP, as well as a writer, blogger, Chess educator, world traveler, frequent litigator, activist and candidate for office. UPDATE-- Nic indicates he may not appear for personal reasons, in which case host John Clifton will fill in with thoughts on the topic, based on commentary recently expressed in his blog at: https://electclifton.wordpress.com/
For our meetings, while we will pass the hat, there is no mandatory donation. However, all attendees should purchase $10.00 in food and drink over the two hour period. There is street parking and a reasonably priced parking lot across the street. You can travel there by taking the Q15A bus out of Main Street, Flushing (7 Subway Line) (which will let you off on the corner of 150th Street & 14th Avenue) or by taking the Q76 bus from either the 165th Street Bus Terminal or from the subway station at Jamaica Avenue & 179th Street (you should get off at the corner of Cross Island Parkway & 150th Street & walk to 14th Avenue).
