What we’re about

"What if the health system honoured and valued queer and trans people's lives, bodies, and expertise? What if LGBTQ+ communities lead and organized our own health care as a form of mutual aid? What if every aspect of our health care was rooted in a commitment to our healing, pleasure, and liberation?"
-Zena Sharman from The Care We Dream of: Liberatory and Transformative Approaches to LGBTQ+ Health

This group is for providers and consumers of healthcare who are interested in queering healthcare systems. Our aim is to transform healthcare at the following levels:

Self
We identify biases and limitations that we hold. We learn from diverse voices where research is not inclusive and perspectives are limited. We continually queer the scope of our practice and perspective.

Community
We expand from learning to living the values gained from diverse voices. We create healthcare spaces that are queer competent and inclusive. We participate in building healthcare networks focused on activism and social change.

Systems
We transform personal philosophy into systemic change though activism, advocacy, and policy reform. We challenge transphobia, homophobia, fatphobia, heteronormativity, ageism, gender normativity, racism, colonialism, classism, ableism and seek to dismantle systems that uphold them. We embrace diversity of gender, sexuality, body type, citizenship status, socioeconomic position, race, ethnicity, age, neurotype, and beyond.
