Total Liberation Reading Group

Details

Total Liberation is the commitment to ending all oppression and supremacy, including human-non-human oppression. Total liberationists recognize that nobody is free until everyone is free, and "everyone" includes all sentient beings.

The first book we will be reading is "Animal Rights: The Abolitionist Approach" by Gary Francione and Anna Charlton. Find it on libgen :)

This book is divided into discussions of six principles. The first is:

"Abolitionists maintain that all sentient beings, human or nonhuman, have one right—the basic right not to be treated as the property of others."

We'll be talking about this principle and what it means for total liberation at our first meeting.

At each meeting we'll be using the book as a jumping-off point for our discussion — if you don't have the time or bandwidth to do the reading, that's okay!

There will be snacks! If you'd like to bring something (vegan) to share, that would be wonderful ~
