Telling Our Queer Stories: Writing as a Container for Change
Details
This free writing workshop is for queer women (women in the most inclusive sense: non-binary, trans and cisgender) who want to tell their real-life stories. Through memoir and poetry, we’ll explore how storytelling can entertain, illuminate, and create change. Led by Lori Horvitz, founder of the Queer Girls Literary Reading Series (now in its 16th year), and assisted by Vance Goodman, poet and Queer Girls Literary Reading participant, the session will include focused prompts, timed writing, group discussion, and optional sharing in a supportive setting. Please bring paper and a writing implement and come ready to write. This workshop welcomes anyone open to putting their queer experiences on the page. If you can't make it, please cancel beforehand, since participation is limited. Location is at a venue in North Asheville. We'll send out the address once you sign up.
