About Us

R-Connect Vancouver is a new community for anyone in the Vancouver area who uses R, wants to learn R, or is interested in working with data in a supportive and welcoming environment.

Our goal is to build an inclusive, friendly, and diverse space where people of all backgrounds and experience levels can connect, learn, share ideas, and grow their skills in R. Whether you are completely new to coding or already experienced in data analysis, visualization, or programming, you are welcome here.

We believe learning is stronger when it happens in community. R-Connect Vancouver aims to make R more approachable by creating opportunities for collaboration, mentorship, knowledge-sharing, and meaningful connections among people who are curious about data and coding.

Questions and Answers

What is R and who is R for?
R is one of the leading programming languages for processing, analyzing, and visualizing data. It is widely used in statistics, research, business, health, education, and many other fields. R is for anyone who wants to work with data, build useful skills, or explore data science in an open-source and accessible way.

What events does R-Connect Vancouver plan to run?
We plan to host workshops, talks, project showcases, coding cafés, community learning sessions, and other events centered around R, data, and skill-building. Events are intended to be welcoming, practical, and open to learners of all levels.

Who can join the R-Connect Vancouver community and events?
Everyone is welcome. R-Connect Vancouver is open to people of all genders, backgrounds, and skill levels. Our community is built on inclusion, respect, curiosity, and support for one another. Whether you are a student, professional, beginner, educator, researcher, or simply interested in learning, you are invited to join.

How can I contribute?
You can contribute by giving a talk, leading a workshop, suggesting event ideas, recommending speakers, mentoring others, helping organize events, or connecting us with sponsors and community partners. Since this is a new non-profit that I am currently organizing on my own, I am especially looking for people who want to help build the community alongside me from the beginning. Any contribution that helps grow an open and supportive R community is valued.
