R-Powered Web Apps (with Jeff Horner & Jeroen Ooms)

Details
We'll have two presentations on R-driven web applications with Jeff Horner, creator of the RApache module, and Jeroen Oons, a visiting scholar at UCLA.
Door will open at 6:00pm, and talks will begin at 6:30pm.
Bringing the Power of R to Web Apps with RApache
Jeff Horner will discuss the motivation for creating RApache (https://rapache.net), a module for executing R code inside of Apache, outline the details for getting a basic R-powered web app running, and highlight some examples of RApache apps & dashboards around the web.
Jeff is the author of several R packages, including Brew (https://cran.r-project.org/web/packages/brew/index.html) (a report generation tool) & Cairo (for graphics), and currently maintains the RMySQL (https://cran.r-project.org/web/packages/RMySQL) package for interfacing R with MySQL. By day, he is a Systems Analyst at Vanderbilt University.
Developing Web Apps with R and Javascript
Jeroen Ooms will speak about developing web applications with R and Javascript, including exposing one of R's most powerful visualization packages, ggplot2, as a web application.
Some of his work is showcased at:

Jeroen is a visiting scholar from the Netherlands at UCLA Dept. of Statistics. He obtained his MS in Statistics last year from Utrecht University, and he has used R extensively in developing web applications.
