Native support for rendering raster images was recently added to the R graphics engine. This talk will discuss why this support was added and what the consequences are, with a mixture of cheesy and meaty examples.
Paul Murrell is a senior lecturer in the Department of Statistics at The University of Auckland, New Zealand. He is a member of the core development team for R, with a focus on graphics.
