Radical Honesty: Moving Past the Work of Dr Brad Blanton

This month's meetup will be our last picnic-style in Barnum Park, overlooking the Barnum Park lake and the City Skyline. Bring a blanket and a snack or drink. Next month we're back to 700 Kalamath.

This meetup group was once entirely focused on Radical Honesty and the work of Dr Brad Blanton. Dr Blanton was a mentor of mine and despite the many criticisms he receives from his own community (some well-deserved), there are too many gifts from his work to throw the baby out with the bath water.

Though the meetup and the larger Radical Honesty community has expanded beyond the work of this one man, I hope to help continue bringing his work to those who see the value.

This meetup will start with an overview of the work of Dr Blanton and some stories from my recent visit to him in an assisted living facility in NJ where he is suffering from dementia. We will practice exercises he designed to help us realize the many ways we all dissociate from our present experience and hide the parts of ourselves we fear others will not accept. With any luck, we will learn to connect more deeply with ourselves and others, and in the process, shed light on some of the subconscious shadows and fears that may be steering the ship of our lives more than we realize.

There are no-parking signs along 4th, but its really fine to park all along 4th and Hooker street. We will be exactly where the pin is on the map below.
