Asherigad Monsoon Trek

Details

The trek to Asherigad in the Palghar region is an exploration of rich history and natural beauty. Asherigad, a significant fort built during the Shilahar Dynasty, has witnessed shifts in power, from the Portuguese in 1556 to the Marathas in 1737, and finally the British in 1818, each leaving a mark on its structure and surroundings.
The trek begins in Khodkona village, leading trekkers through lush greenery and dense forests. The journey includes a challenging ladder section, testing endurance and offering breathtaking views. Midway, a wooden sculpture of Waghoba, a local forest deity, highlights the area's cultural significance.
At the summit, trekkers enjoy stunning panoramas and explore a cave and water cisterns vital to the fort's history. The vast plateau provides a serene resting place with view of watch tower Adsul on the oppostie side of the highway. The trek to Asherigad offers a deep connection to the history and beauty of the Palghar region.
