📖 The Book:
• Don't Sleep, There Are Snakes by Daniel Everett
Our first non-fiction pick! A riveting account of the experiences and discoveries of linguist Daniel Everett while he lived with the Pirahã, a small tribe of Amazonian Indians in central Brazil.
📖 The Short Story:
• Notes on Camp by Susan Sontag
We're staying with the linguistic theme for our shorter read! This edition from Penguin's Modern Classic Series contains two essays first published in the 1960s. The first works of criticism to break down the boundaries between 'high' and 'low' culture, they became instant classics - and made Susan Sontag a literary sensation.
