=====

Read the entire description before you RSVP and answer all of the questions that are part of the process. Failure to answer them will result in your removal from this event.

Answers DO NOT carry over from one event to another so you must answer them for EACH EVENT. Also, questions might not show up if you RSVP from a phone or tablet so if you don't see them you will need to use a computer.

If you underestimate the demands of this event; overestimate your experience, knowledge, skills or abilities; or come unprepared you put yourself and others at risk. Consider this before you RSVP.

=== What We're Doing ===

The plan is to take two days to climb one of the 4,000 footers in New Hampshire (Carrigain) and one of the New England Hundred Highest (Nancy).

Day #1 - We will use Nancy Pond Trail to reach Norcross Pond where we will start the short bushwhack up and back to Nancy. From there we will continue along Nancy Pond Trail and Carrigain Notch Trail to reach Stillwater Junction. There we will set up our tents and spend the night.

Day #2 - We will pack up our gear and use Carrigain Notch Trail and Desolation Trail to reach the summit of Carrigain. After relaxing atop the fire tower at the summit we will follow Signal Ridge Trail down to the trailhead.

See What to Bring below for more details.

If you are interested in participating in this event sign up for the waiting list. I will add people that (1) answer all of the questions that are part of the RSVP process and (2) have done similar hikes within the past three months.

RSVPs close 24 hours before the event.

The maximum group size for this trip will be 8 people.

Guests aren't permitted.

Dogs are only permitted with prior approval of the event organizer.

=== Trip Summary ===

We start as a group, hike as a group, and finish as a group. Our pace will be that of the slowest hiker. This trip isn't for you if you are faster than the group and don't want to stay with us, if you want to head off on your own, or if you are slower than the group and expect us to constantly wait for you.

On this moderate pace (~1.5 MPH) trip we will hike about 17.5 miles and climb about 6,000 feet over the two days.

• Day #1 = About 9.7 miles of hiking and about 3,100 feet of climbing.

• Day #2 = About 7.8 miles of hiking and about 2,900 feet of climbing.

This event is considered INTERMEDIATE because of the pace, distance, and elevation gain.

=== What to Bring ===

There are no established tent sites in this frequently used area so we will be selecting the "best available spot" that the wilderness area offers. The idea is to share tents and group gear like stoves, fuel, and water treatment. You are on your own for all meals - if they consist of anything more complicated than simply boiling water and pouring it into a bag you will need to bring your own supplies.

We might still need traction - be prepared to bring either Kahtoola Microspikes or Hillsound Trail Crampons.

Do not rely on others to have extra items to share with you at the meeting spot or on the trail. You should know how to use all of your equipment - test and adjust it prior to this trip.

=== Directions ===

We will meet at Signal Ridge Trailhead which is located on the southeast side of Sawyer River Road. According to Google Maps this spot is about 172 miles from Boston and it will take about 3 hours 1 minutes to drive there. We will leave a few cars here and then drive to the starting point.

While carpooling is encouraged you are responsible for coordinating your own rides. Use the comments section below to communicate with others who may also be looking to share a ride.
