Stockbridge Massif - new date

Details

[If you think you've seen this ad before - then you'd be right. Date change, so re-send. Couldn't really do it on Mother's Day, could we?]

  1. So what's happening..... In case you missed the intro blurb, this will be a fast-ish hike - so walking pretty fast/fast for the majority, while throwing in jogs and runs as and when. Obviously, there'll be breaks and a lunch pit stop.

  2. The route.... very basically, the start is at Stockbridge, funnily, heads out to Danebury Hill fort, loops round to the river, then back to the start. About 9- 10 miles, so you'd want to allow 4-5 hours, at least.

  3. 'Requirements':... Obviously, it'd be useful if you were fairly confident about walking pretty fast over 4 + hours with jogs and the like thrown in.

  • You don't necessarily need to have hiked before - the terrain and gradients are pretty straightforward - its just the physical aspect.

  • Clearly If you're not really sure where you might lie - give me a shout! We're all going to have different ideas of fast...

  1. 'Resistance'. So for those of you who might want more of a challenge, then maybe have a think about bringing some more resistance - like a backpack with weight in it.
  • Why do I say this? Well the distance and the terrain aren't going to be too scary - and the group being a group will be going round as such - so you'll be experiencing a pretty uniform pace. So given these aspects, it's not guaranteed you'll experience the challenge you want - if that's what you're looking for. Just so you're aware!
  1. Need to bring....? If you've hiked before then you'll know what to bring but if not then: drink, food (lunch), waterproofs and extra warm kit would probably be useful....

  2. Admin.... Cost - the small cost (when you RSVP) is to help go towards meetup fees.

Parking; the car park is at the back of the pub - if its full there's plenty of room along the lane next to this.

Lifts. I'm coming from Southampton, so if anyone needs one...

Any questions, let me know!
