Passionate Humanism

Our past meeting topics have mostly been about the technical aspects of rationality. This event that I am hosting next month is different. This is about finding meaning in rationality in the world today.

Much of the rationalist community is committed to utilitarianism. Of course, consequences matter, but I'll argue that we get the most meaning in life by also embracing rationality as virtue, not only as a means to an end.

I will begin with a short presentation to frame the discussion, then we will break out into groups along themes such as science & knowledge, art & creativity, civic engagement, human flourishing, and other humanist virtues.
