About us

Raw Sacramento is a group for raw vegans who want to meet in person for potlucks and other activities.

What is raw food? Fresh, frozen, dehydrated (at 115 °F or below), or freeze-dried food.

Why raw food? Cooking introduces carcinogens and destroys nutrients.

What does a raw vegan typically eat? Fruit, vegetables, nuts and seeds, corn, sea vegetables, sprouts, flowers, spices, and extra virgin cold-pressed oils. Some may eat honey, sprouted legumes and grains, coconut sugar, and agave. Everyone lists all the ingredients, so it should be easy to tell. We also ask that all your dishes be as organic as possible.

What is practically never raw? Store-bought pitted or rolled dates, deglet noor dates that are moist and dark brown vs. dry and yellow, cocoa (the raw version is cacao), and maple syrup.
