Opening Reception - Fall Exhibits at Utah Museum of Contemporary Art

Details
The Utah Museum of Contemporary Art (UMOCA) is hosting an opening reception for 4 new exhibitions:
- Elizabeth Malaska — 2025 Doctorow Prize winner, presenting layered, auratic paintings in the Street Gallery.
- Kellie Bornhoft — an immersive installation in the Air Space combining sculpture, sound, and video in Touchstone.
- Al Denyer — works on paper in the Projects Gallery exploring cartography, topographic lines, and the tension between real and altered landscapes.
- Fieldworks: Green River — a pop-up show of sculptures created by participating artists during a week of exploration and hands-on making with found and repurposed materials.
There will also be an outdoor 16mm film screening on Abravanel Hall Plaza, adjacent to the museum -- projections of landmark experimental films at Oscar Tuazon’s Salt Lake Water School with artist Ian Burnley. The featured works from The Film-Makers’ Cooperative are James Cagle’s Waterwork (1970) and Joyce Wieland’s Dripping Water (1969).
Cash bar available.
Admission to UMOCA is by donation -- **please consider making a donation of $10 - $15 upon entry!**
We'll gather before the show at 5:00 pm for refreshments on the beautiful outdoor patio at nearby Ivy & Varley at 55 W. 100 South (venue is 21+). The menu features food, beer, wine, cocktails, and non-alcoholic drinks. Then we'll walk over to UMOCA to enjoy the opening reception, which runs from 6:00 - 9:00.
Because group reservations are needed for both Ivy & Varley and the UMOCA opening reception, this event is limited to 8 participants.
I have RSVP'd for the group of 8 for the art opening reception.
When you sign up for this event, please message me to confirm whether you will be meeting the group at 5:00 (or thereabouts) at Ivy & Varley.
This will be a really fun evening of cool art and cool people - hope to see you there!
