Utah Opera: Beethoven's "Fidelio"
Details
Let's gather to enjoy a Sunday matinee of the Utah Opera's upcoming performance of Ludwig van Beethoven's only opera, "Fidelio."
Utah Opera’s website describes it as “a stirring saga of love, bravery, and the quest for justice. In this heroic tale, Leonore goes undercover, disguised as a guard named Fidelio, to infiltrate a corrupt prison and rescue her wrongfully accused husband, Florestan. It’s an emotional journey that reflects Beethoven’s idealism, echoing his own conviction that good will triumphs over tyranny.”
Sung in German with English supertitles.
We'll meet in front of the Janet Quinney Lawson Capitol Theater at 1:45 pm (showtime is 2:00). After the performance, we can go to The Red Door across the street for drinks and conversation (they have non-alcoholic cocktails for those who don’t drink alcohol!).
I suggest we buy tickets on the orchestra level at the $52 price tier (total of $57 including the ArtTix service fee). Since the performance is by reserved seating, I’ll buy all the tickets together so we can sit as a group. After you RSVP, I will reach out to each person to make arrangements for you to send me payment in advance for your ticket (via Venmo or PayPal).
**Note that if we have at least 10 people RSVP, we can take advantage of Utah Opera’s 20% discount on the ticket price, with no service fee! (so it would be $42 per person).**
Semi-formal or formal attire encouraged (c'mon, folks, it's the OPERA!).
