What we’re about
Welcome to Data at Scale, a new meetup group in Helsinki for professionals and enthusiasts interested in big data, large-scale data processing, real time and challenges in scaling large data systems.
Our goal is to bring together experts and learners in the field to share knowledge, discuss industry trends, and network with like-minded individuals. We'll host regular meetings and events covering topics such as distributed systems, data warehousing, data engineering, data needed for model training (ex: data that powers AI models like ChatGPT), and the issues and challenges of scaling data.
Join us to learn, share and grow together in the exciting area of scaling data systems and to understand the limitations and the best practices to overcome them.

Companies are finding enormous value in new development methodologies, architectural patterns, and technologies. However, legacy systems can hold them back from realizing these benefits. Monolithic code bases, complex dependencies between apps, siloed data, and outdated development processes are a drag on innovation.
But a real-time data serving layer offers a “best of both worlds” approach, providing the benefits of modernization without the risk of a full rip and replace. Legacy systems are left intact so existing applications can continue to work as usual without interruption.
Join PingCAP Technology Evangelist Li Shen as he guides you through the strategic advantages of deploying TiDB, an open-source, distributed SQL database, as a real-time data serving layer. You’ll discover:
- The benefits and challenges of building a real-time data serving layer.
- How TiDB’s architecture delivers real-time data processing and integration.
- How to set up TiDB as a real-time data serving layer for operational efficiency and responsiveness.
- Reference architectures for dynamic workload scenarios including Customer 360, real-time analytics, and more.
- An opportunity to discuss your specific use case during a live Q&A with a TiDB expert.
We hope to see you there.
