What we’re about
We will be running a variety of activities based in England and Wales. During the winter our activities will be based mainly around the South of England - Home Counties, single day routes within easy travelling distance from central London. As the weather warms up we will move slightly further afield with multi day expeditions planned in the New Forest, the Isle of Purbeck, the Brecon Beacons and Snowdonia. If you cannot see an event that attracts you then why not get in touch either through facebook messaging or via the contact details on my website www.theexpedteam.com. We will be very happy to design a tailor made itinerary for you.
Our focus will be on walking in and around the countryside of England and Wales. We will always try to generate a relaxed and informal atmosphere with emphasis on having fun. There will be a mixture of shorter day walks and multi day more challenging hikes. When the weather warms up there will occasional wild camping and wild swimming opportunities.
We will try to make clear in our walk description how challenging the route will be.
Easy - Predominantly flat well tended footpaths with little or no height gain.
Moderate - Predominantly flat well tended footpaths with some rough ground and some height gain – Chilterns, Cotswolds, South Downs, New Forest.
Challenging – Rough footpaths in often remote areas (more than 2 miles from nearest road). Considerable and sometimes steep height gain. Possible scrambling. Brecon Beacons, Snowdonia.
Most of our single day routes should be accessible to anyone with reasonable levels of fitness. The walks will last for about 4 - 5 hours including breaks. You should wear suitable footwear and ensure that you wear or have access to suitable clothing - undershorts (avoids chafing!!!), cotton trousers - not denim, light T shirt, another T shirt, fleece/sweatshirt, waterproof jacket, small rucksack, water bottle, snacks.
The Expedition Team Limited is fully insured for outdoor activities. We are approved by AALA, a branch of the Health and Safety Executive, to undertake expeditions in mountainous areas. We are happy to organise excursions and expeditions for you and your family members should you require. We deliver adventure and leadership experiences for young people during school holidays - see www.theexpedteam.com for more details.
IMPORTANT NOTE: We consider safety to be our number one priority and while we never take unnecessary risks, we do recognise that any outdoor activity involves a danger of personal injury or death. Remember that you should be aware of and accept these risks as you are responsible for your own safety and you should not undertake anything beyond your abilities. It is also your responsibility to be correctly equipped for the weather and activity you have chosen to participate in.
The Expedition Team Limited via the Really Wild Hiking meetup accept no responsibility, or liability for loss or injury.
We also do not guarantee accuracy of travel, cost or other details displayed on our events and web pages, or changes and cancellations to events, although we will endeavour to make the meetups as accurate as possible.
If you have any medical conditions, or injuries that may affect you please let the organisers know before the start of the event, and also if you feel unwell please let us know. But overall you need to be happy that you are fit for the event, and aware of any support needed. . If you are participating in a multi day event you will be required to complete a very thorough health questionnaire.
REFUNDS.
You will not be regarded as ‘attending’ any multi day event until you have paid a deposit or if required, paid in full. If you have paid for an event - either a deposit or have paid in full, I am afraid we cannot refund any monies paid. The event was booked, confirmed and paid for by us on the understanding that a number of people would be attending and that they had all paid or had indicated that they would be paying in full.
You can however, arrange a replacement to take your place. If you do find a replacement it is NOT acceptable for you to sell your space to the person replacing you, for a price exceeding the price you originally paid.
When you have found a replacement simply email confirmation providing the persons contact details – email/mobile phone number/full name. Once that person has paid in full for the event, you will immediately be reimbursed.
Personal Insurance.
We recommend that everyone participating in outdoor activities obtain appropriate insurance. The BMC offer excellent policies for all outdoor enthusiasts at very competitive rates:
