Community Build Day! For Parkrose Village
Parkrose Community United Church of Christ, 12505 NE Halsey St, Portland, OR 97230, USA, Portland, OR, USWelcome everyone!
On Saturday Oct. 17th, we will build 12 patio covers to support the Parkrose Village; a community of tiny homes offering supportive services and a place to sleep for people living unhoused.
This will be a fun community build day with experienced builders from local nonprofits, a large lunch for volunteers, and an opportunity to do something good for the community! You are not required to stay for the full time and no construction experience is required. As long as you want to swing a hammer, learn how to put on a small roof, paint wood, and spend the day with great people, then you're invited to participate!
Why are we building this?
Parkrose Village offers supportive services to people living unhoused. Residents receive a temporary tiny home to stay in, community, support from case workers, assistance in finding housing, jobs, and further opportunities. This summer, Parkrose received 13 new and upgraded tiny homes! Now we are going to add a patio cover to the front of each home. This will add shade during the warm months, add weather protecting during the rainy months, and improve the design and feel of the community.
This event is a partnership between Recycled Living, Portland Shed, and WeShine.
See you there!
