Come casual or dressed. No pressure. Beginner friendly. Walks in and people who never done Garba more than welcome. We will do multiple lessons throughout the night and party after each lesson.
For advanced dancers come show off what you got and get the group going in your own circle.

Description
Job Title: Instructor - Bollywood, Bhangra
Department: Rang De Bollywood Dance Company
Reports To: Director
Classification: Part-time, contractor

Start Date: May 1st, 2024
Job Purpose: To deliver the School’s curriculum, determined by the Director, to the students enrolled in Rang De Bollywood classes; to develop and nurture these students; to transmit a passion for the art form.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

• Structure and teach Rang De Bollywood following the School’s stated curriculum. This includes level-appropriate classroom technical instruction as well as mentoring students in the artistic, musical and dance story
• Attend regular staff meetings. Participate in the end of the year student showcase and lead students through performance opportunities
• Record and report on student attendance; relay concerns to the the Director
• Monitors students’ progress, attendance, growth.

Qualifications
Years and Type of Related Experience Required:

• Minimum of 3 years experience teaching Bollywood, Kathak, Bharatnatyam, Indian Folk or one of these
• A strong teaching experience
• Open to non-Indian trained teachers who have a strong passion to teach and are passionate about Bollywood and can learn quickly

Technical Competencies:

• A commitment to the aims and objectives of Rang De Bollywood Dance Company
• Develops students by providing kind, appropriate, and inspiring training in technique
• Provides level-appropriate combinations within the structure of the stated curriculum
• Gives corrections to all students. Creates an environment where students can accept and learn from mistakes, coaches students through difficulties and provides ongoing feedback and encouragement.
• Responsibility for the overall discipline of the class, and ensuring proper technique is taught and all are encouraged
• Proactive and flexible approach to work, willingness to be involved in all areas of the Company’s dance initiatives including online classes, performances, additional classes
• Manages class and rehearsals in a professional manner.
• Personable and well presented, including wearing the proper Indian attire for teaching
• Maintain appropriate staff-student relationships; complies with the Conduct with Minors policy and other School/Association policies related to health and welfare.
• Communicates with students, staff, colleagues, parents etc in a manner that ensures clear and mutual understanding of information.
• Demonstrates diplomacy and tact in all interactions.
• Builds rapport and develops effective, collaborative relationships with colleagues, pianists and staff.
• Supports and provides equal and fair treatment for all.
• First aid and CPR qualification or willingness to attend training
• Have dance teacher insurance

Physical Demands:

• Demonstrates dance moves, styles, musicality and dynamics, 1-3 hours preparation work to learn choreography and lyrics
• Be in a good physical shape and know how to take care of the body to teach, perform

Other:

• Basic knowledge of Google Drive, Zoom, Bluetooth speakers
