All Things Effect: An evening with creator Michael Arnaldi
Effect’s creator is coming to San Francisco. Let’s get into it.
Michael Arnaldi is flying over from Europe to join All Things Web and the Effect community at CodeRabbit’s rooftop on September 30. Your organizers, Andre Landgraf (@andrelandgraf) and Erik Thorelli (@esthor), are bringing everyone together for an evening of technical conversation, community, good food, and rooftop hangs. With a new version on the horizon, we may have something fresh to get our hands on, too. 👀
If you’ve wondered why people get so deep into Effect, or you’re already using it and have a growing list of questions, this is a good evening to be in the room.
How much should your program tell you before you run it?
What can fail? What does it depend on? What happens when work needs to retry, run concurrently, or stop halfway through?
Every substantial TypeScript application eventually needs answers. Effect brings typed errors, dependencies, concurrency, and resource management into a shared programming model. That opens up some interesting possibilities, and some worthwhile arguments about how much structure we want in our code.
The evening
We’re planning a couple of presentations, followed by a fireside chat and audience Q&A with Michael, hosted and MC’d by Simon Farshid (@simonfarshid), founder and CEO of assistant-ui.
We’ll get into the design decisions, the practical tradeoffs, and what’s coming next. Bring the question you haven’t found a satisfying answer to in the docs.
There’ll be plenty of time before and after to meet people, compare notes, and get into conversations that don’t fit into a Q&A. Good local food and drinks are on us.
Come curious. Bring opinions.
Whether you’re shipping a web app, hacking on an agent, maintaining a library, or still deciding what you think of yield*, you’re welcome. No prior Effect experience required.
We’re keeping this to 100 people, with room to ask questions and actually get to know the people you meet. Expect fellow developers who care about the details and want to talk about what they’re building.
Spots are first come, first served. Grab yours on Luma while there’s room: https://luma.com/all-things-effect
