Milky Way Take 2--Fort Churchill State Park

Fort Churchill is listed as one of the 7 noteworthy locations for stargazing in Nevada. If you'd like another opportunity at a Milky Way shoot join us for the August new moon on the 16th.

For those wishing to carpool from Reno meet at the Sparks Blvd. Target parking lot (across from Legends) at 7:15. It takes approximately an hour to drive to the park which is south of Silver Springs on US Alt 95. Sunset is at 8:27 and the galactic center is visible that night from 9:31 - 1:17.

If you plan to drive yourself, we will meet at the north parking strip which is right off the main road, past the ranger's station. There is a $5.00/car fee to enter the park if you don't have a pass.
