What we’re about
This is a monthly group for men who are dating, living with or married to another with and without children and/or stepfathers who may or may not have their own children. We meet in Boulder and I will occasionally host meetings in Denver.
I’m a family therapist who’s been working with stepfamilies, stepcouples and stepparents (mainly stepmothers or women who are living with or dating one with children) for over fifteen years. I write for Huffington Post and Stepmom Magazine.
I work in solution focused ways combining both years of clinical experience matched with the latest research.
There’s a high divorce rate in remarriages with children-62-74%. While this is a daunting and discouraging stat, it doesn’t need to be that way for you. Often the unrealistic expectations imposed on all in the stepfamily contribute to this high break up rate.
This is a group to offer support, information, the latest research and the solutions that work best, taking into consideraton each members unique challenges.
Men in repartnership often feel caught in the middle between their children, their new partner and sometimes the mother of their children. They often feel that nothing they do is good enough and feel powerless in their roles. They may have guilt/shame about the divorce and the position this has put their children in. Stepfathers face their own unique challenges as they try to figure out what their role should be. Support for men in repartnership is sorely lacking, thus the creation of this group.
I work in practical and realistic ways to help support your partnerships and your relationship with your children. Sharing is optional.
