TOPIC 1: "Redis Streams Vs Kafka in the context of Microservices"
Speaker(1): Tristam Fenton-May, VP of Engineering at Deriv
Bio: With more than 30 years of programming experience and over two decades operating in key leadership level positions, Tristam has a wealth of experience in software development, architecture and technology strategy and plays a crucial role in driving Deriv's engineering initiatives and spearheading innovation in software development. Prior to joining Deriv, Tristam held key leadership positions including VP of Architecture at Powerfleet where he crafted and executed software architecture strategies, and VP of Technology where he contributed significantly to the company’s technology progress. His earlier career also saw him as Chief Technology Officer for Carrierweb where he guided the company’s technology strategy and played an instrumental role in its growth and success.
Speaker(2): Kate Wilkins, Principal Engineer at Deriv
Bio: With more than 35 years of experience in Research and Development and nine years within the IT industry, Kate's profound technical knowledge and innovative thinking establish her as a powerhouse in Deriv. She plays a critical role in the full-stack development and architecture of the Deriv products, leveraging her extensive expertise to drive technological advancement and innovation. Prior to Deriv, Kate held the role of Chief Architect at Ecrebo where she led numerous projects including creation of a Ruby/React front-end solution and leading the transition to a fully scalable micro-service architecture with Kubernetes, whilst overseeing technical management across multiple functional teams.
TOPIC 2: "Extending Kubernetes clusters with operator pattern"
Speaker: Yevhen Zavhorodnii, Principal SRE at Ticketmaster
Bio: A solutions focused full stack software development engineer with 15 years’ experience designing and building scalable and extensible applications for a wide range of purposes and organisations. Previously worked as Senior SRE with Schlumberger and Senior Platform Engineer with Cookpad. In his current role as Principal SRE for Ticketmaster, he is focused on improving reliability across the Ticketmaster ticket selling platform and actively contributing to open source.
TOPIC 3: "Generative AI – a hands on introduction to Prompt Engineering"
Speaker: Aidan Caffrey, Head of Cloud Architecture & Engineering PwC
Bio: Aidan is a seasoned technology professional with over 20 years of professional technology experience. He has a remarkable track record of successful cloud projects and is recognised as a technical and thought leader. He’s led global teams of architects and engineers, and his customer-centric approach has been instrumental in driving substantial platform and feature enhancements within Microsoft Azure during his previous tenure as Senior Cloud Solution Architect II at Microsoft. Today, as Senior Director at PwC he leads the Architect, Engineer, Developer, Product Owner and Scrum master communities within the newly established Cloud & Data Engineering practice.
