What we’re about
Resume workshops are free and all are welcome. The purpose is to inspire and energize participants by introducing insights and expertise that expand possibilities to showcase strengths, talents, and capabilities within the resume format. Attendees will leave eager to apply new ideas and with greater confidence in taking next steps toward preparing a resume that engages reviewers and leads to more interviews. The leader is an expert in preparing resumes, cover letters, and related presentations. The format is informal to allow sharing tips and reactions among people in the group. Attendees' resumes are critiqued at the workshops as time allows. Reviewing resumes as a group demonstrates ideas ranging from novel to traditional that may be adopted to strengthen participants' career change searching.

•OnlineApplicant Tracking Systems (ATS) Examined: Opportunities to Go Beyond
OnlineZoom: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/82196123946/
Digital scanning of your resume (ATS) is a critical juncture on your resume’s journey. Submittal to ATS processing of online resumes has become almost universal in the current recruiting arena. Let’s discuss what happens to your resume during scanning. How can you prepare your resume to fly through the filters, and what do you need to know to prevent your resume from being rejected by an ATS system? We will cover what to do and what to avoid, as well as trends among software firms that develop ATS systems for use by employers and recruiters. In addition, we will consider software that allows job applicants to submit their resume + job posting and see their resume score according to its degree of matching to the job posting requirement (principally key words). Beyond ATS scanning we will show resumes that surpass meeting ATS processing requirements: these are enhanced to impress internal recruiters and hiring managers. Lots to discuss. Feel welcome to ask questions and share tips with others.
Let's inspire and strengthen each other with our insights. The themes that drive resume effectiveness include showing your strengths, emphasizing problems you can solve, and highlighting your potential to add value. You will learn to include challenges you have met and accomplishments that have achieved goals. Attendees typically raise questions about handling work gaps and transitioning to a new industry, new level, new job function, new degree/certification, and more.

•OnlineGetting Around "Job-Itis" and "Title-Itis" to Land your Next Position
OnlineZoom: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/81276432708/
We will focus on two common afflictions of job applicants: “Job-Itis” and “Title-Itis.” Both maladies over-emphasize job seekers’ expectations that their most recent job function and title will be viable targets for their next position. Job functions and roles are morphing into new identities. The rapid changes are difficult to adapt to, and many job seekers may conclude they will be moving ahead with a modified job function and renamed title, often with new requirements. We will discuss the need for applicants to remain grounded by taking inventory of their career assets and being extra perceptive in interpreting employers’ job postings. Now may be the time to expand searches beyond accustomed functions and titles. What about staying attuned to industry trends and companies as never before – important! Additional ways to gain confidence and stand out are to improve networking proficiencies and strengthen personal and professional presence. In our interactive workshop you will be encouraged to ask questions, share insights, and connect with others who are facing job search challenges.
