Hello there!

This group has an unusual name, but it is very carefully and intentionally chosen. After 15 years as a Meetup organizer, and many years as a scholar of social isolation and social trends, I see the benefits of having a Meetup group specifically for people who are very determined and dedicated to developing truly three-dimensional platonic friendships.

To qualify, those friendships must be RECIPROCAL. Both parties, or all of them in the case of friendships involving more than two people, need to initiate social contact. It has to be two-way street.

The social interaction facilitated by the vast majority of groups on Meetup.com and other socializing sites only exists at the time of formal events set by organizers. This social interaction is extremely important and is a huge benefit.

Of course thousands of people who meet through Meetup go on to becoming friends independently, and that is the purpose of this group.

Building these kinds of relationships takes time and therefore members MUST BE at least partly retired, they must be 60 or older, and there is a requirement to attend AT LEAST one event per month. If members are ill or traveling away then that requirement is void.

This group is free to join. Please take your participation seriously. If your social life is already full and you have no need or desire to forge new friendships, it is not for you.

There will be numerous events every week, of wide variety. Something for everyone. WELCOME :)
