For the past 30 years, volunteers have monitored seasonal nesting of the diamondback terrapin population at Nockum Hill in Barrington. From June to mid-July, female terrapins nest in the sandpits, and in mid-August the terrapin hatchlings start to emerge!

The Terrapin Project and this town owned wildlife refuge are managed by the Nockum Hill Management Committee.

All participants should wear a face covering, comfortable walking/hiking shoes, sunscreen, & bring bug spray. This event is FREE and suitable for all ages. No dogs, horses, bicycles or vehicles allowed on the property.

*NOTE: Since this is a posting for self guided walks during these Open Trail time slots (attendees will not be walking together in groups) the limit for this event is much higher.
