Hike Description:

Bafflin Sanctuary is a Connecticut Audubon property and covers ~700 acres in Pomfret, CT. The property's primary purpose is to be a protected habitat for the wide range of birds that visit the sanctuary. The landscape is diverse, with grasslands, cornfields, and forests. There is a ravine, beaver ponds, and a couple of streams on the property. There are more than 10 miles of walking trails for visitors to enjoy.

Some of the trails at Bafflin are mown paths through grasslands. Because of this bug spray is strongly suggested for protection from ticks..

There are some hills, but overall the terrain is fairly easy. Bring adequate water (1.5 liters min and snacks).

Directions:

From the east/(Providence, RI): Take Route 6 west onto Route 101 west. Go west on Route 101 until it meets Rt 169. Turn right on Rt 169 north. Take your first right onto Day Road. Follow for approximately one mile to a stop sign. Turn right continuing on Day Road. The Center is less than a quarter-mile on your right.

Please note that we are meeting at the Center at Pomfret building which is on the sanctuary property. You can follow Audubon signs on the local roads that will guide you to the Center in addition to the suggested route above. You can use the location link on this page to get directions from Google Maps.
