Description: We will be doing a ~6 mile loop with some different trails than on prior hikes. It is almost entirely within Natchaug State Forest which is in northeast CT. During this hike, we will be hiking in the towns of Chaplin, and Eastford. It is a scenic hike, with the route passing close to the Natchaug River, ponds and streams, and through pine forests. The route is mostly single-track woodland trails and forest roads, Much of the trail is fairly flat, with some steep and rocky sections.

As always, bring water and snacks carried within your pack for the hike. A good pair of hiking boots is recommended.

Directions:

From Route 6: Take a right onto Route 198 north. Go north on Route 198 for approximately 7.5 miles. Take a right onto General Lyon Road. Go 0.1 mile and take a right onto Pilfishire Road. Go 1.7 miles and turn right onto Kingsbury Road. Kingsbury Road leads into Natchaug Forest. The park will be on your right in under 0.1 miles.

From Route 44: Take Route 198 south. Go south on Route 198 for approximately 0.1 miles. Turn left onto General Lyon Road. Go 0.3 mile and turn left onto Pilfishire Road. Go 1.7 miles and turn right onto Kingsbury Road. Kingsbury Road leads into Natchaug Forest. The park will be on your right in under 0.1 miles.
