Description
Tillinghast Pond Management Area (TPMA) located in West Greenwich, covers nearly 2,000 acres and is the largest Nature Conservancy property in Rhode Island. The land is managed jointly by the Nature Conservancy, The RI DEM, and the Town of West Greenwich. Joined with the Arcadia WMA, Wickaboxet WMA (WMA), and the Alton Jones Campus of URI, Tillinghast Pond is part of 40,000 acres of protected land in western RI.
The distance is ~6 miles and will take about 3.0 hours. The terrain is mostly flat with some gentle terrain roll.
Bring water & snacks. A minimum of 1.0 liters of water is mandatory for this hike.
Directions
From I-95, take Exit 14B - Route 102 North. Follow Route 102 for 3 miles, then turn left onto Plain Meetinghouse Road. Turn right at the intersection with Plain Road. Follow Plain Road for 1/2 mile to the parking lot on the right
