Wines of Tuscany: Blind Tasting
Details
Tuscany’s wines are celebrated for their elegance, structure, and deep connection to place, shaped by rolling hills, diverse soils, and a long winemaking tradition. The region is best known for Sangiovese, a grape that produces wines with bright acidity, firm tannins, and flavors of cherry, dried herbs, and earth, forming the backbone of classics like Chianti, Brunello di Montalcino, and Vino Nobile di Montepulciano. Alongside these traditional styles, Tuscany also produces rich, internationally inspired Super Tuscans, often blending native grapes with Cabernet Sauvignon or Merlot for added depth and power. Whether rustic or refined, Tuscan wines balance freshness and structure, making them especially versatile at the table and emblematic of Italian food-and-wine culture.
Let's get together and taste an array of what the region has to offer!
Please bring:
- A bottle of Tuscan wine in the $20-$30 range (It can be hard to know if a wine is Tuscan just by looking at the label, so if in doubt, ask your wine merchant. They should have plenty to choose from.)
- A plain, brown paper wine bag (the kind they give you at the shop when you buy your wine. If you have a few extras, please bring them too.)
- 4 wine glasses
- Optional: a snack to share
There are only 12 spots available for this event, so sign up right away! If your plans change please be sure to change your RSVP so that someone on the wait list can attend.
Considerations:
- I have a small, friendly, non-shedding dog
- On street parking is free in our neighborhood
We look forward to meeting you and welcoming you to our home in the Museum District! I will send the exact address to all attendees a day or two before the event.
Cheers,
Jill and Michael
