About us
Richmond City Cinema Club is all about cultivating a community of movie lovers. Our club is meant to be a fun and inclusive safe space, an easy social experience. Life is messy, but movies are cool. There's no pressure if you can't make it or don't feel like engaging once you're there... we're just happy to have you! And if you're looking to make real friends, we got you there too.
Events are movie showtimes at the Byrd or Movieland (and maybe the occasional Regal trip for an IMAX film or limited engagement). All movies are fair game, from independents to blockbusters, from new releases to classic films.
Sit with the group or wherever you'd like. Once the credits roll, we’ll meet up to chat about the movie and get to know your fellow moviegoers.
Please start here to read our guidelines, follow us on Instagram, or join our Discord!

Hollywood Shuffle (1987)
Studio Two Three, 109 W 15th St, Richmond, VA, USRSVP here: https://www.nowherecinema.com/event-details/hollywood-shuffle-1987
### Join Nowhere Cinema in honoring Black Resistance with a free screening of Hollywood Shuffle!
"This debut feature by Robert Townsend is an ingenious satirical landmark that takes riotous aim at the typecasting of Black actors in 1980s Hollywood. The writer-director-star’s megawatt charisma propels Hollywood Shuffle, the hilarious tale of a struggling actor attempting to break into an industry where the only roles available to Black performers seem to be hustlers, butlers, and slaves—forcing him to choose between selling out and maintaining his self-respect. Lampooning everything from film noir to zombie flicks to sitcoms, Townsend and cowriter Keenen Ivory Wayans cannily turn the frustrations of the Black artist into a subversively funny pop-culture critique." – Criterion Collection
This screening will be subtitled.
CW: Hollywood Shuffle (1987) has a few jokes in poor taste, including a homophobic slur. Largely though, the movie takes aim at Black stereotypes and racist caricatures that plague American culture and Hollywood. If you have any questions, please email nowherecinema@pm.me.8 attendees
A Fistful of Dollars (1964)
University of Richmond, Jepson Hall, Room 118, Bldg #17 on Richmond Way, Richmond, VA, USPart 2/4 of the FREE Hard Light at UR series: A Trip to Italy
Runtime: 99 min
A Fistful of Dollars is a lot of things: one of the most iconic spaghetti westerns, the debut of Clint Eastwood’s Man With No Name persona, and a remake of Akira Kurosawa’s Yojimbo, just to name a few. It’s also a ton of fun! Gritty with a grey morality, A Fistful of Dollars is a classic that ought to be watched, or rewatched, on the big screen, so join us at Jepson 118 for a great time.
Because this screening will be on the University of Richmond campus, parking will be a bit different than our usual screenings. We encourage parking at the Ryland Circle on campus. There will be a limited number of free visitor's passes that we'll be handing out in the parking lot, but we encourage you to fill out this form and get your own free pass mailed to you, especially since it'll work at all of our University of Richmond screenings this semester! See y'all there!
