What we’re about
Richmond City Cinema Club is all about cultivating a community of movie lovers. Our club is meant to be a fun and inclusive safe space, an easy social experience. Life is messy, but movies are cool. There's no pressure if you can't make it or don't feel like engaging once you're there... we're just happy to have you! And if you're looking to make real friends, we got you there too.
Events are movie showtimes at the Byrd or Movieland (and maybe the occasional Regal trip for an IMAX film or limited engagement). All movies are fair game, from independents to blockbusters, from new releases to classic films.
Sit with the group or wherever you'd like. Once the credits roll, we’ll meet up to chat about the movie and get to know your fellow moviegoers.
Please start here to read our guidelines, follow us on Instagram, or join our Discord!
Upcoming events (4+)
See all- Syndromes and a Century (2006)Richmond Public Library - Main Branch, Richmond, VA
The first movie in Hard Light Cinema's free Slow Sunday series at Richmond Public Library! RSVP here.
Syndromes and a Century is probably the easiest “entry” to Apichatpong Weerasethakul, so don’t be afraid or intimidated by this one. Come and join us in the early afternoon at the library, let your brain rest a bit, and let the soundscape of a Weerasethakul film wash over you. Bring your friends if they’re Letterboxd users or care about Oscars/Palme d’Or or come by yourself and make new friends because if you’re willing to watch free slow cinema on a Sunday afternoon, we’d love to meet you and become your friend!
Runtime: 105 Minutes.

If this is your first movie with us, welcome! We'll typically arrive 10-15min early to chat in the lobby. You can sit wherever you want! After the movie ends, we'll meet back up in the lobby to talk more. Don't be a stranger!
