24th anniversary dinner at Lucrezia Italian Ristorante

dear friends--

after our first hike in September 2001, as we were at our vehicles getting ready for the ride back to Chicago, i remarked that i thought we'd had a wonderful day, and (only slightly tongue-in-cheek) that we were doing what the President wanted, getting out, and getting together with others instead of sitting home being afraid and depressed after the terrible attack on our country just 18 days earlier.

someone else mentioned that the President had also told us to go out and spend money and keep the economy going, and the only money we had spent was the gas we used to get to the park.

so i thought of a fine way to end the day by dropping a bunch of bucks at a gourmet restaurant to please ourselves, and make Mr Bush happy at the same time.

...and so i have organized a visit to Lucrezia, an award-winning Italian restaurant in Chesterton to further celebrate the anniversary of the group.

on a busy Friday evening, they discourage parties larger than 6, so we will have a firm limit this dinner. you may sign up for a waitlist, and i am going to check back on people's commitment on Thursday evening.

i plan to have a Lucrezia lunch in the future, at a low traffic time in the hope that others can come, but we'll do what we can this Friday.
