i had hoped to be at this hike, but am still in Massachusetts. my wife, Hilary has had a neck sprain, and hasn't been ready for a 2 day car ride to get us back to the Hoosier Riviera in time, so sadly i won't be there.

but Jonathan will lead you, assisted by Lilia, so please enjoy, and post some pics of the beautiful woods and your smiling faces--and i'll see a lot of you the following Saturday at the Shoreline.

dear friends--

Dune Park train station, where we will meet at 12:00 PM CDT (1:00 PM EDT). though we will not be using the train, the lot is usually not full, and i've never heard of anyone's having problems parking there.

EDIT:
( Rick had a good idea yesterday-- We'll try this a little differently than previous years. The trail is basically a long straight line, so instead of going halfway and covering the same ground again, we'll carpool to one end ( 7 min drive) and hike back to the cars. It will require some car-shuffling, I'll explain it all that morning.

There's two good stopping points -- a 2.5 mile hike to the USGS station, and the full 7 mile hike.

There will be restrooms and both ends and the middle of the hike )

this event will be close to the fourth anniversary of Jonathan with the group, and the third anniversary of Jonathan as an event organizer. thanks to Jonathan for the many hikes he has planned and led for the three years, and thanks to Lilia for leading hikes since last winter.

there is a restroom at the South Shore train station, and another at the USGS center.

getting people together and ready to hike will take a little while, but let's be moving by 12:15.

this should be a dog-friendly hike, so you may bring your well-behaved, leashed Canine American friends--except that if you will need a ride to get back to your car, make arrangements ahead of time.

i encourage you to TAKE and POST pictures. if you don't know how to post, please text them to me, and i will post them for you.

Make sure to check the weather on the day of the event and dress appropriately http://www.weather.com/weather/tenday/Beverly+Shores+IN+46301 . Be sure to bring along plenty of water (preferably 2 quarts), and a snack which we will eat along the way.

if you have symptoms of, or have recently tested positive for Covid-19 (or any other contagious disease), please DO NOT ATTEND.
