Trail 9 Dunes state Park, Moderately hard hike

Time 11am CT, 12pm ET

This is one of my top two favorites parts of the Dunes area. The walk along the edge of the Beach House Blowout doesn't seem real.

We'll go counter clockwise so we'll go down the steepest part instead of up.

Difficulty:
Moderate. The total distance is about 4 miles, with some steep ascents, and a lot of walking on loose sand.

If you would like an easier path, you can split off after 1.4 miles with the rest of the group, avoid the steepest parts, and remain in the woods following trail 9, back. This route is less than 3 miles.

Details
• Dogs on a leash are allowed
• Bring some water, and maybe a snack
• Bathrooms are in the Nature Center, Other bathrooms are a few minutes walk away.
• In case of bad weather the hike may be bumped to Sunday afternoon

Starting Location
We'll gather in front of the Nature Center deep in the Indiana Dunes State Park.

Entrance
Unlike most of our hikes, this one is in part of the State Park. National Park passes are not accepted.
If you don't have a pass, at the gate it costs $7 for residents and $12 for non-residents.
