Dance The Change was founded in 2019 and has thrown over 60+ silent disco parties for a cause at beautiful nature spots in the Bay Area! Each event is always about fundraising for a local or international charity. DTC has donated to help build tiny homes in Oakland, to Roots health clinic & given over $5000 to Sogoreate Land Trust helping indigenous women buy back their native land in the spirit of de-colonization. Most recently DTC has teamed up with Hip Hop For Change to help raise funds to buy and donate music production and DJ gear to economically challenged youth in the Bay Area.

In February 2026, the founder of Dance The Change, Adrien Blackhurst, embarked on a journey to Nairobi Kenya donating $3000 worth of music production and DJ gear to a youth center in a ghetto there after a successful GoFundMe fundraising campaign. He will be doing a similar journey to Turkey October 2026.

We believe that we can Be The Change we want to see in the world... one dance at a time!

"There is a reason that nearly every ancient healing tradition gathered people into circles.
Long before there were therapists, diagnoses, or neuroscience, there were fires, drums, songs, and communities moving together in rhythm.
They understood that healing doesn't happen only within us… it also happens between us.
Attachment research reveals the biological reality.
Shared rhythm activates the neurobiology of connection, an essential part in healing, especially for nervous systems that have learned connection is unsafe.
Researchers studying children with attachment trauma introduced a simple group drumming practice and measured what happened next.
Oxytocin, the neurochemical associated with trust, safety, and belonging, increased by 112% to 165% after just a single session.
In other words, shared rhythm offers a profound opportunity to activate the healing biology of trust and connection, repairing attachment wounds without needing to tell your story or relive your past."
