Join us for a talk on Sentiment Analysis! Using different R packages. We'll find positive and negative sentiments in texts, but also more detailed emotions such as surprise or fear. We'll learn how to visualise commonly used positive and negative words. It's suitable for all levels and you don't need any previous experience with this topic.

Manika Lamba (https://twitter.com/lamba_manika) is a 4th-year Ph.D. candidate in Library and Information Science at University of Delhi, India. She completed her MPhil and Master’s degrees in Library and Information Science from the same department. She also holds degrees in MSc Plant Biotechnology and BSc(H) Biochemistry. Her research focuses on information retrieval, digital libraries, social informatics, and scholarly communication using text mining, natural language processing, and machine learning techniques. In addition to publishing scholarly articles, she has authored a book on “Text Mining for Information Professionals: An Uncharted Territory”. As the Chair of the Professional Development Sub-Committee and Elected Standing Committee Member at the IFLA Science and Technology Libraries Section, she is actively organizing webinars to equip information professionals with new computational and digital skills. Moreover, she is serving as the Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of Library and Information Services (IJLIS), Newsletter Officer & Webmaster at ASIS&T South Asia Chapter, Secretary/Treasurer at ASIS&T SIG-OIM, and Cabinet Representative at ASIS&T SIG-DL.
