• What we'll do
Join us for an interactive “book club” based on chapters 1 & 2 of "Text Mining with R: A Tidy Approach" (links: https://www.tidytextmining.com/tidytext.html & https://www.tidytextmining.com/sentiment.html). The focus of this book is using tidy data principles for text mining. As we learn a bit about text mining, we will be using the same methods for data wrangling and visualization that we have used in previous meetups but for text data!

• Agenda:
6:00-6:30: Introduction & debugging today's code
6:30-7:15: Overview of chapters and group discussion
7:15-7:30: Lightning talk: "Term frequency–inverse document frequency (TF-IDF)" by Darina Chudnovskaya
7:30-8:00: Scheduling & networking

We are being hosted by our friends at Drexel University's LeBow College of Business. Check out their highly-ranked program at http://www.lebow.drexel.edu/

We are supported by DataCamp (https://www.datacamp.com/): Data fluency helps people succeed. This is why DataCamp is democratizing data science education by building the best platform to learn and teach data skills. By creating technology for personalized learning experiences to bring the power of data fluency to millions of people around the world. We are proud to support R-Ladies to help achieve this mission. (Take a look at their course on sentiment analysis featuring Julia Silge, a co-author of "Text Mining with R: A Tidy Approach”! https://www.datacamp.com/courses/sentiment-analysis-in-r-the-tidy-way)

We are also supported by RStudio (https://www.rstudio.com): RStudio has a mission to provide the most widely used open source and enterprise-ready professional software for the R statistical computing environment. These tools further the cause of equipping everyone, regardless of means, to participate in a global economy that increasingly rewards data literacy.

• What to bring
Bring a laptop with R and RStudio installed. We recommend everyone read the chapters ahead of time and work through the code examples if you have time. If you need help installing R or issues relevant to the day's lesson, come early so we can help you troubleshoot!

• Important to know
If you haven't been to an R-Ladies event, fill out our survey! http://bit.ly/rladies-survey We will then add you to our Slack, where we can answer questions.
