2021 Datathon Kickoff: Exploring Judicial Patterns

Details
Join us for a 6-week datathon focused on exploring judicial patterns in Philadelphia courts! We have partnered with the Judge Accountability Table (JAT; https://judgeaccountabilitytable.org/about/) to help them explore, stratify, and visualize a complex dataset related to public court dockets for defendants in Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania. We will be working on a deidentified subset of these data in order to:
- better understand the judicial system through data
- hone our data science and R skills (there will be ways to contribute for people of all levels of experience with R)
- get our hands dirty and our heads spinning with rich and messy real-world data (spoiler alert: we will not be analyzing sepal.length and petal.width)
- work together, network, and make (new) friends in the data world!
- have fun nerding out together over data :)
The repository for the datathon can be found here:
